Black Friday

I did do a little shopping. I could have taken a photo of the line at Old Navy, but I didn't. It was long. Just imagine the inside of an Old Navy store, and a line stretching nearly to the back of the place, which you stand in for about half an hour. Enough of that. This afternoon, after Danjo and Venom painted, we went hiking with some friends. The pictures of that are more fun.

Eighth Grade

"Mom, can you help me with my homework?"

Sure. What do you need?

"Just quiz me on this. "

Ummm...what? I don't think this is written in english!

"Yeah, just read the words on the left and I'll give you the english translation."

Ummm...yeah....

November Musings

~It's best to have a very good remote to run the multimedia extravaganza sitting on old coffee tables in our family room. We all complain about that very good remote when we are using it, but when it falls underneath the sofa and no one can find it, things get dicey. No one can watch anything. Consternation.

~When the first violins don't learn their parts, the rest of the orchestra gets bored.

~When you are in 6th grade, it takes until mid-november to feel like you are in 6th grade.

~Young Adventurer may be utterly convinced that he definitely wants to erase all progress and start Super Smash Bros. Brawl over, but he will live to regret that decision with wailing and gnashing of teeth.

~"Today is the Day" is a very cheery and inspirational song. How about we try that again tomorrow. Grrr.

~Dogs find bags of Arby's trash.

~We need to buy new swings and clean the backyard. Maybe plant some flowers or something.

~Venom could audition for symphony orchestra, but it would require learning harder music and a schedule change. Totally not worth it, apparently. The schedule is ideal as is.

~Some of us are in need of a trip to Bookmans

~My sudoku book is almost out of new sudoku, I fear.

~I need to delete all the pent-up text messages in my phone or it will explode.

Greetings

Hello, I am your future overlord. You do not need to know my name or the color of my fur, you only need know that I will, one day soon, be your benevolent ruler. There is no need to be alarmed, you will be happier than you ever thought you could be. Look forward to this day. Romp in the grass in eager anticipation of all the joy you will know, eat an apple and leap into the air. One day you shall soon know me. For now, I must bid you farewell UrbanRanger is starting to wake up...

One should not wait too long for dinner

So for two nights in a row, dinner has been delayed beyond the point of reasonability. Last night Quiznos happened at 8 due to circumstances beyond my control. Ha! Tonight it was a brewery at 7:30. Considering my last actual meal had been at 11am, that was late! The alternatives were McDonald's, or Flemings. I was wanting something more middle-of-the-road. The brewery place worked. Danjo found it for me online after I had driven for a while looking for something and not finding anything.
Yes, I ate at a brewery. Yes, I drank water and was mildly curious what the difference is between a lager and an ale and a stout.

I shall have chocolate covered peppermint Joe Joe's for dessert.
Thank you.
Really.
Some of you have made this possible.
Thank you!
Tomorrow I go home, and will be glad to see people (even some Adventurers ;-)) again, having enjoyed seeing a friend, and having some time to myself, and having some adventures of my own. :-)

The Freaky Bride of A Lion, and other odd things

These first two capture what I found in Young Adventurer's room this morning. Oh, the joys of creative children. I think he had help from the other Adventurers.
Yes, that's Aslan. Do you think he is happy? The inflatable frog bride certainly looks happy. Aslan looks...patient? desperate? hungry?

And this, this is what Venom considers to be the best breakfast omelet ever, or something like that. She's recently taken up the art of omelet making.

I'm just sure everything would be fine if only I knew why the bowl of petunias thought, "oh no, not again."

Playing Dress-up

These photos are from Halloween, and from the dog fashion show and wine tasting event Adventurer Two and I attended for Havanese Rescue (they got money for it or I would have said no!). I didn't know what I was getting in to when I said yes to this. The store provided doggie dressup (they chose the fashions, not me!) and we walked the "runway" to Madonna's "Vogue" and the great song, "I'm Too Sexy." Dusty's inner show dog came out in a big way. She had a blast. Adventurer Two was horrified by Dusty's costume (not the Christmas harness, the other one--black and silver hoodie with cross, thick black jeweled collar). Jenna puppy didn't like it so well, but her outfit was kinda cute, as dog outfits go, anyway--pink and fluffy hoodie. The event was about what I expected. Some people have too much time and money on their hands and take it out on their pets. We did get a laugh at chippendale poodle, and the chihuahua in sunglasses. No good photos though. Just imagine a black standard poodle, groomed like a show dog, wearing white cuffs, bowtie, and fancy gold panties with money sticking out the top. Yep. You've got the picture. The chihuahua was wearing a very spiffy red brocade taffeta sort of dress, red jeweled collar, red patent leash, and sunglasses. Very nice ones. She looked and acted very...aloof. "Don't touch me, commoner!"

Then there's Halloween. It actually came first, but I didn't upload the photos in the right order and I don't want to rearrange them. It's too much trouble. Young Adventurer was David (the one who defeated Goliath). That was a late change from Puddleglum. The girls were their own strange superheroes, but I didn't take any photos. We roasted marshmallows. Joseph did a great job and fed me two. These are three and four. I don't know who ate them. They look yummy, but a mom can only ingest so many marshmallows after eating pizza and candy all evening. I really do like them burnt.
And then there's Jack'o'lanterns:
left to right, Puddleglum, designed by Young Adventurer, The Happy Cyclops, designed and carved by Venom, and Adventurer Two's unnamed creation-The Smirking Pumpkin, maybe.
