Warning

They've moved from your TV to your bookshelf to try to put you off your guard and make you believe they're on your side. Don't buy this book, and don't blink.

Three things I'm thankful for

1. Live, lovable, loving dog
2. Adventurers (Happy 13th Birthday, #2!)
3. Beautiful things that can be bought at the store when needed

[untitled]

Got all Valentine-y and made pink & chocolate cupcakes (from scratch--YUM!) and found irony in my favorite candies.
Shot at nature-y things. Kind of a quiet morning, but the light was nice.

Beware of Dog

Yes, the mop dog with a ponytail chased a careless visiting cat up the tree.
The cat paused there to consider it's options...
Calculated tree-to-wall distance, listened to the bark, estimated hair/dog ratio...
Apparently it concluded that Dusty is mostly hair, climbed down the tree, and made a successful dash for the wall.
Dusty made sure it left in a hurry, and strutted proudly into the house, as only a dog with that much hair and a ponytail can do.

Indiana, on the other hand, feels it is beneath her dignity to chase cats and remained on the patio, watching Dusty with a bemused expression.

Another Blog

Just wanted to share a link to a blog about bugs that I came across by accident. The photography is pretty cool (makes a girl want a really great macro lens), and from it I learned that next week has been declared Army Ant Week, and that the guy who invented Uncle Milton's Ant Farms has died.

The weather outside is freakin cold.

While Urban Ranger is up at Lantern Waste enjoying the always winter and never Christmas freakishness in the midwest (watch the thundersnow video in her post of today--it's great!!)...

And baking for the awesome and enthusiastic students who came to bring CHRISTmas, just to spite the White Witch...
We're enjoying some freak weather of our own, desert-style. That's ICE on my front walk, at 3 in the afternoon. I think it's from the sprinklers rather than a storm, but it's still very weird, for here...
and pretty, since it's only in the shade and not on the roads, or the power lines...
I know it's ice because I've seen it before, just not here...

I'm thinking the daylily may have to start over. It's coming up a little too soon...
if it's this cold in the afternoon...

And it may be this cold here, but it's colder in Juarez (8 degrees this morning), where not enough people have enough house, or clothing, to keep out the cold.

Give an electric blanket or two here
