Another Blog

Just wanted to share a link to a blog about bugs that I came across by accident. The photography is pretty cool (makes a girl want a really great macro lens), and from it I learned that next week has been declared Army Ant Week, and that the guy who invented Uncle Milton's Ant Farms has died.

Creepy Crawlies

This is sicko dog Indiana. Drugged and down, but not out yet.
The very tiny gecko we found in the house the day after we got home from vacation. No, you can't move in, dude.
Sitting out on the back porch this morning--cicada--ugly bug. Thanks Danjo for bumping the stick with my face and the camera only inches away. [Shriek.] I'm sure it was an accident...
Spider on the sunflower
Young Adventurer's attempt at watching The "Don't Blink" Episode of Doctor Who. It turned out to be scarier than he thought. ;-)

I need to learn how to upload video from the camcorder

This post would be more interesting with a nice video clip. I'll work on that. Young Adventurer had his Winners Recital today for the piano competition. He did great and was charming and well-behaved as well. He was most excited about the trophy and the check with his name on it. He also likes to dress up.

The tallish kids in the back were amazing. Playing Chopin and stuff. Young Adventurer liked a piece one of the other kids played: "Cat and Mouse" by Aaron Copland.

We found this charming fellow in the parking lot of the piano competition place:
Anyone know what it is? Brief internet searches have turned up nothing so far. I think the yellow spotted parts are wings. It looked like the entire body was that bright red. It was about the size of a smallish grasshopper. Young Adventurer wanted to catch it, but we decided to leave the bug and take only photographs.
Edited to add: We identified The Bug. He/she is an Iron Cross Blister Beetle

We also went to Amy's cello recital and it was amazing.
